Know where you are and what you have left to do.
Shopify removed Stocky's automated transfer order features. The min/max threshold settings stopped generating transfer orders.
Stocky is still accessible but non-functional for transfers. You have until August 31 to export your settings and set up a replacement.
All Stocky installations stop working. If you haven't migrated, inventory transfers will need to be created manually.
Follow these steps in order. The whole process takes about 20–30 minutes.
Before anything else, document your existing minimum and maximum stock thresholds. Even though Stocky's transfer automation is deprecated, your threshold data may still be visible in the Stocky dashboard.
For each product and location, note down the minimum stock level you had configured. A simple spreadsheet works well: Product name | SKU | Location | Minimum quantity.
Go to the Shopify App Store and install StockRelay. The 7-day free trial starts on install — no credit card required.
Install StockRelay →After installing, StockRelay will prompt you to grant it the required Shopify permissions: read inventory, write transfer orders. This is a standard OAuth flow — approve the permissions and you'll be redirected to the StockRelay dashboard.
This is the core configuration step. Using the spreadsheet from Step 1, enter your minimum stock levels for each product at each location.
StockRelay lets you configure thresholds at both the product level (applies to all locations) and the product–location level (overrides the product default for a specific location). Start with product-level defaults and add location overrides where needed.
For each product, specify which location should supply the transfer when stock drops below the minimum. This is typically your main warehouse or distribution center.
StockRelay will create a transfer order from the source location to the destination location when the threshold is triggered.
StockRelay runs nightly, but you can verify your setup is correct by checking the dashboard the morning after your first automated run. Look for:
Once StockRelay is running correctly and you've confirmed a successful nightly run, remove Stocky from your Shopify store. This avoids any confusion or duplicate processes.
StockRelay was built to be a drop-in replacement for Stocky's transfer automation.
Set different thresholds for every product–location pair, just as you did in Stocky.
StockRelay scans all your inventory every night — the same always-on automation you relied on.
Transfer orders appear in your Shopify admin, exactly where your team already works.
Works with all your Shopify locations — stores, warehouses, fulfillment centers.
August 31 is closer than it looks. Set up StockRelay in 30 minutes.
