Stocky shuts down completely

All Stocky installations stop working. If you haven't migrated, inventory transfers will need to be created manually.

Migration steps

Follow these steps in order. The whole process takes about 20–30 minutes.

1

Export your Stocky min/max settings

Before anything else, document your existing minimum and maximum stock thresholds. Even though Stocky's transfer automation is deprecated, your threshold data may still be visible in the Stocky dashboard.

For each product and location, note down the minimum stock level you had configured. A simple spreadsheet works well: Product name | SKU | Location | Minimum quantity.

Tip: If Stocky no longer shows your settings, check your Shopify inventory reports or past transfer orders for reference quantities. Your operations team may already have this documented.
2

Install StockRelay from the Shopify App Store

Go to the Shopify App Store and install StockRelay. The 7-day free trial starts on install — no credit card required.

Install StockRelay →
Tip: Install StockRelay well before August 31 so you have time to fine-tune thresholds and verify the first automated run before Stocky disappears.
3

Connect StockRelay to your Shopify store

After installing, StockRelay will prompt you to grant it the required Shopify permissions: read inventory, write transfer orders. This is a standard OAuth flow — approve the permissions and you'll be redirected to the StockRelay dashboard.

  • Approve inventory read permission
  • Approve transfer orders write permission
  • Confirm your store and locations are visible in the dashboard
4

Set your minimum thresholds per product and location

This is the core configuration step. Using the spreadsheet from Step 1, enter your minimum stock levels for each product at each location.

StockRelay lets you configure thresholds at both the product level (applies to all locations) and the product–location level (overrides the product default for a specific location). Start with product-level defaults and add location overrides where needed.

Tip: If you have dozens of products, prioritize your fastest-moving SKUs first. You can add the rest before your first nightly run.
5

Configure your source locations

For each product, specify which location should supply the transfer when stock drops below the minimum. This is typically your main warehouse or distribution center.

StockRelay will create a transfer order from the source location to the destination location when the threshold is triggered.

6

Verify with a test run

StockRelay runs nightly, but you can verify your setup is correct by checking the dashboard the morning after your first automated run. Look for:

  • Transfer orders appearing in your Shopify admin for products below threshold
  • Correct source and destination locations on each transfer order
  • Correct quantities (matching the shortfall from your minimum)
Tip: You can also review the run log in StockRelay's dashboard to see exactly which products triggered transfers and why.
7

Uninstall Stocky before August 31

Once StockRelay is running correctly and you've confirmed a successful nightly run, remove Stocky from your Shopify store. This avoids any confusion or duplicate processes.

Important: Do not wait until the last minute. Shopify will forcibly remove Stocky on August 31, 2026. Merchants who haven't migrated will have no automated transfer orders from that date.
